FO Outtakes: Ninja Turtle Edition

For knitters, it’s a well-known moment. You finish your precious knit, the one you’ve been slaving away for hours, for weeks. You adjust it, feel good about the fit, then turn to whomever you live with and say, “what do you think?”

So when I played out this very typical scene in my own home, Guy sort of chuckled and said, “you look like a ninja turtle.”

Okay, it’s big and green, and the back shape is a little turtle shell-like, I can see that. So we decided to have a little fun with that:

While I found the big stick lying around, we added the blue Michelangelo Leonardo (apparently my memory of TMNT isn’t as good as I thought it was- even though I remember being really into them when I was a kid!) mask post-production. I don’t just walk around with that sort of thing in my pocket. But maybe I should. Props are fun, right?

Those were the only two where I was hamming it up deliberately. This next one didn’t work because I as clearly over-channeling my inner glamourous supermodel:

It’s not an unflattering photo, it’s just waaaay too much. There’s glam photos, and then there’s overkill. This is definitely the latter. This next one is okay, but when I’m laughing really hard, it’s the opposite of the overkill shot above. After all, it’s good if you can see molars in a photo, right? And eyes all crinkled up into small little caterpillars? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Those are this knit’s outtakes, I hope you had a laugh!

I always love to see these pictures that didn’t make it to the “official post” (and I think that yours always look so great!)

I don’t know; the laughing one’s not so bad. Also, that’s a Leonardo mask. Michelangelo’s is orange.

  3. Corinne   •

the ones with the mask are soo cool! and the one where you laugh are beautiful.

  4. Tahnee   •

Those TMNT pictures are hilarious! And that’s exactly the kind of reaction my boyfriend would give when proudly showing him an FO.

  5. Tea   •

This is too funny. As Tyra Banks says,”smize” with your eyes!

Fun pictures. Even the overdone ones are still good. Funny how our husbands view our knits. I mean, seeing a Ninja turtle instead of a beautiful cardigan: I guess that’s the male perspective. My husband also has some strange reactions to my knits sometimes.

Haha, funny husband! These are great. I actually really like the ‘super model’ one.

Hmm, how hard would it be to duplicate stitch the shell plates across the back? These are some fun shots, and now I almost want to make one of these. But I’m kinda “done” with shrugs, moving on to actual sweaters, albeit very sloooooowly.

Lol… I love that you have so much fun with your photos! Those TMNT ones are great!

Hey I like the laughing one! oh natural
You make a mean ninja turtle!

Awww… very cute outtakes! I have to say, though, smiling/laughing photos are always my faves – I love seeing the molars and eye crinkles! (My absolute favorite photo of my SO is one where he’s onstage – he’s in a band – and he’s laughing really hard looking at something out of the corner of his eye – so geniunely enjoying himself, not paying any attention to the camera- those are the photos that make me swoon!) 🙂
