Life At-A-Glance: Scenes from Instagram

I was late to the Instagram party, but now that I’m here, I’m having a great time! I’ve thought it would be fun to share some photos from my Instagram  in case any of you wonderful readers aren’t on Instagram and would like to take a look at what I’m posting behind the scenes. I add photos to my instagram on average about once every two days, which isn’t quite as much as I’d like, but I find that I’m often so in the moment, I don’t think to take a picture. Or it’s nighttime, and the photos are super challenging.  How about you guys- do you have an Instagram account, or have any favourite subjects for your Instagram feed? Let me know your user name in the comments so I can find you, too!

Top row, left to right: At a friend’s book launch on the weekend, brunching at Barque (our favourite bbq joint), Lila’s first pigtails(!!!), my moms’ monkey bread.

Middle Row: My cards from  porketta bingo, Guy and I mattress shopping (A whole other story- we bought a new one, and we aren’t sure if we like it- how long does it take to break in a new mattress? Anyone have some advice? ), Lila watching a koi fish pond projection on the floor at the  Ontario Science Centre, my first manicure in about a decade (and I’m so crazy in love with it, I went out and bought the nail polish to do it at home! Wish I felt this strongly about the new mattress….).

Bottom row: A snap of Guy and I are the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) on our 5th wedding anniversary,  gallery collection from the AGO, fun party lights and a DJ spinning at the AGO, and Guy teaching Lila how to take cell phone snaps- we’re still working on less-blurry selfies.

On the subject of mattresses, Paul and I bought one a couple years ago. We completely splurged and got a really comfy one since you end up spending 1/3 of your life sleeping. I’ve never had any complaints. From the moment it was in the house it has been very comfortable. When we were shopping the man who helped us said to trust the demo mattresses since they’ve been thoroughly ‘broken in’. Ours was a pillow top though, so I am really not sure if the same things apply.
Depending on where you got it, there is usually a 30-day satisfaction stipulation, so if you’re really not happy with it, you could always go that rout. I say life is too short for uncomfortable mattresses!!! I hope it gets better soon.

We bought a new mattress a year ago and it’s already sagging so much that we are back to waking up with sore backs just like our old mattress. We spent over $2,000 on what we thought was a quality mattress. Luckily, there is a lifetime satisfaction guarantee so we just need to call the company and make arrangements. But STILL! We shouldn’t have to deal with this only a year later.

Instagram could be the main reason that I finally give in a get a smart phone! It really does sound like a fun site to participate with. I love your shots, especially those tiny pigtails <3

I love all of your shots! Looks like you had a fun anniversary! Congrats on five years. 😉

I found you on instagram! I too am very new to the party, but I love it! I can get a quick fix of other people’s projects as well as post quick, informal shots of what I’m doing. To me, it complements my blog. For the blog, I feel like I need to have good pictures and a story to go with. For instagram, I can just be spontaneous!

We bought a new mattress about 8 years ago, when the now 9 1/2 y/o (!!!) needed a twin mattress and I decided it was time for a new queen set also. Sorry…I digress 🙂 Anyhow, the first morning I woke up with a backache, and thought, uh-oh! But less than a week later, my body adjusted and it has been great. Hang in there with it for a little while.

Happy 5th anniversary to you and Guy! Those instagram pics look great. Lila’s pigtails are so adorable! I should probably get M to take more selfies with me (he hate taking pics!) – we hardly take any and I think they are nice to look back at, further down the road.
