Modification Monday: Cadence

Original Pattern: Cadence

Knitter Extraordinaire: Sarah (Ravelry ID, blog)

Mods: Sarah lengthened the sleeves to be full length, and added a lot of length, side vents, and a longer back than front to be worn as a tunic with leggings. More info on the modifications and the sweater’s story on her blog post, here. Her project page can be found here

What Makes This Awesome:  I loved the original pattern, but Sarah’s is a total knockout the full length sleeves are done perfectly (I love deep ribbing on sleeves), and the tunic length is inspired– this is exactly the sort of hem tunics should have! I love the side vents, they allow for great drape for the sweater and for more comfort when actually moving around with a long sweater. And having the back be a bit longer than the front? totally practical! Sarah’s done a wonderful job making the original sweater a chic, modern tunic.

I made this up and it was so pretty but when I put it on, it was way too big and loose at the top and neckline. i have to take it apart I guess. What did I do wrong? It fit everywhere else.

      Hi Sandy,

Not sure what happened with your neckline, but perhaps send an email to the designer and see what she might recommend? Sounds like the neckline needed a smaller needle size, but I haven”t knit this pattern before, so it’s hard for me to say.

      Cheers,

      Julie
