Modification Monday: Blumenpulli

Original Pattern: Sweater with Multicoloured Borders

Knitter Extraordinaire: Monika (Ravelry ID)

Mods: Changed the drop shoulder construction for a raglan sleeve construction instead. Project page can be found here.

What Makes This Awesome: Once you get over all that stranded colourwork – drink it in! – it makes so much sense to adjust the sleeves to a raglan shape. Depending on your body type and shoulder shape, the raglan shaping can help provide a better fit in the shoulders and upper body (drop shoulders tend to add more volume of fabric around that area). The other remarkable thing about this project is that it is entirely a destashing project –  ALL the yarn is leftover from other projects. Pretty amazing, right?

Reminds me of last week’s Mod Monday, also adestashing project! This is a lot of motivation to get my stash in order, stat.

I’m 73 and have been knitting for about 60+ years. I hope I grow up to knit like Monika. What gorgeous work!

This work is stunning! Love when leftover yarn is turned into art!

  3. Heather   •

That is breathtaking. Wow, wow, WOW! Stunning. I am in awe.

  4. Wanda   •

So stunning!! And it also makes me think I really need to put some order to my stash and leftover yarns!

  5. Anna   •

Oh my goodness. Stunning work. I might have a modification Monday for you soon as I am knitting an Arlo cardigan into a jumper….

That is some jumper! Really good about the mod too. I frequently reject patterns with drop shoulders because of the extra bulk. Makes putting a coat or jacket on over them so difficult.

Not that we need coats or jackets at present. The sun is also shining brightly here, and has been for quite a while. Ah yes, it’s term time and exam season.

Hmmm, maybe I’ll do a smaller project in sock yarn. That’s where my stash is seriously bulging!
