Modification Monday: Botany

Modification Monday: botany

Original Pattern: Botany

Knitter Extraordinaire: Cathy (Ravelry ID)

Mods:  changed the fingering weight shawl into a beautiful mohair laceweight tee. Detail on her project page can be found here.

What Makes This Awesome: I love seeing wonderful shawl patterns transformed into other types of garments, it’s such a fun way of wearing lace. Cathy’s gorgeous mohair lace t-shirt is a great example. I love the top-down approach, the petals for each sleeve, and the seamless transition to a stockinette body with a small peplum hem. The result is airy, delicate, and ever so lovely. Perfect for spring!

I admire people who can do lace with mohair – I’ve tried a couple of times and failed miserably, probably because I don’t have the right needles for it. Botany is a lovely shawl, and its transformation as a sweater is really lovely. Love the mint colour too.

That peplum was a nice touch. Thanks for sharing – this was very inspirational indeed. If I do not have so many obligatory knitting at the moment I would cast one one right away!
