Modification Monday: Camaro

Original Pattern: Camaro

Knitter Extraordinaire: Mary Claire (Ravelry ID)

Mods: Camaro is originally a DK weight pullover, but Mary Claire revamped the pattern to be a fingering weight cardigan with pockets. Great details and more photos can be found on her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome:  Mary Claire knit this in the round as originally called for in the pattern, and then she steeked the sweater and added button bands, and pockets. For the pockets, she measured the size that she liked on her store-bought sweaters and imitated them- a great idea! I love it when knitters decide that they like a pattern, but wear more cardigans (or vice versa, pullovers) and change it up to reflect that. After all, customizing the knit is the best part of knitting your own sweater!

Ooh! Love this sweater. I’d like to knit one in the round as originally designed and as a cardigan.

In this sweater does Tanis realize that she mentions a #3 needle as larger and then #5 needle as main needle. Am I reading her log wrong or is it a mistake. I want to make this so I need to know. ok? Thanks

      Hi Linda,

I’m not sure, I haven’t knit this pattern! If you clicked through the read the notes on her project page, perhaps send her a message and ask directly? She would be in a better position to answer.

So wonderful! Steeking a sweater scares me though so I don’t see myself trying this soon.

    thanks for sharing!
