Modification Monday: Field of Poppies

paper dolls 2

Original Patterns: Paper Dolls and Catkin

Knitter Extraordinaire: Caroline (Ravelry ID

Mods: Used Paper Dolls as a pullover template, and incorporated the colourwork and texture of Catkin. Project page, with great details and notes, can be found here

What Makes This Awesome:  This is one of those jaw-dropping projects that just works.  Caroline’s conversion of the original shawl into a knitted tee is a striking example of a great pattern mash up. The edging of the original shawl looks flawless as a sweater yoke, and truly do look like poppies. The texture has great textured stripes that are very flattering when incorporated in a pullover, and Caroline notes that the fabric has a lot of stretch-which is exactly what you want in a garment.  I am so in love with this project, I want to knit one just like it!
