Modification Monday: Kai-Mei Cardigan

Modification Monday: Kai-Mei Cardigan | knittedbliss.com

Original Pattern: Kai-Mei

Knitter Extraordinaire: Erika (Ravelry ID, blog)

Mods: Created a top down raglan sweater and featured the lace from the original sock pattern, and changed the gauge from fingering to worsted. More photos can be found on her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome:  This is a great idea that I highly recommend to other knitters out there who want to modify a pattern– find a great lace stripe pattern you love, and incorporate it into a simple sweater. Erika’s take on this is perfection! I love the single stripe on each side of the button bands in the front, and the double stripe in the back provides balance to the design. No matter if you are coming or going, all anyone will see is how gorgeous this sweater is.

Awesome! And I’ve yet to master socks, and see so many pretty lace patterns I could do – what a great idea!

I love this! I also have a cardigan in that sort of faded gold, and it goes with EVERYTHING.
