Modification Monday: Pumpkin

Original Pattern: Monochrome Pullover

Knitter Extraordinaire: Riimium (Ravelry ID)

Mods: Changed the neckline from a turtle neck to a crew neck, made her own yoke chart, as well as lengthened into a tunic. For great details – and the chart for her yoke! – check out her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome: You know how I love it when people change out the yoke! What I love is how Riimium took her inspiration for the yoke from several different sweaters, and combined elements into something entirely her own. And while she was knitting it, she still made changes and refined it, and then updated the chart afterwards to reflect those changes. The crew neck is nice and simple for a yoke with as much detail as this, and I love the tunic length- so versatile! While not really about a modification, I love her colour choices, too. A lovely mod!

I totally agree, a tunic is a lot of stockinette, but it looks like it was worth it!

Yes, I prefer longer sweaters, so this is so nice. And I enjoy her yoke and colors more than the original. Great find!

      Hi Agnes,

So true, right? I wish I had knit it!

Man, I love that teal and mustard together. I love it when knitters are rebels and modify. I think I’m a chicken and usually never do that. I’m glad I have that original pattern in my faves. I think its construction is so interesting.
And so wonderful to hear from you on my little blog. Yes, I’m really enjoying this holiday swap. I love scoring terrific Christmas decorations! That helps fulfill one of my wants – seasonal decor.

I don’t think I’m someone who will knit a colour yoke sweater, but I so admire them when others do it!

Such a pretty color combo! I love her yoke, and I also love the long length – I’m thinking this would make a beautiful sweater dress with a few more inches 🙂

I totally agree, Wanda! I would have gone for the dress, too. 🙂
