Modification Monday: Traveler’s Hat for James

Original Pattern: Traveller’s Hat

Knitter Extraordinaire: Megan (Ravelry ID, YouTube Channel)

Mods: Adjusted the gauge, added a row of eyelets after the ribbing, and added length. Details can be found on her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome: I love it when knitter’s adjust gauge, because if you know you have the perfect yarn but it isn’t the right gauge, it’s worth making adjustments. I love the addition of the eyelets after the ribbing, and that Megan customized the length for a slouchier hat. If you know the style of hat that best suits you, absolutely go ahead and adjust a hat pattern to suit your style- make it shorter if you prefer a beanie style, longer if you prefer a slouchier fit.  I love how Megan’s turned out!

Slouchy hats are huge right now, so it makes perfect sense that she would adjust it. What a lovely gray hat. Thank you for sharing 🙂

Super cute! One of my Christmas presents was a bag of various faux-fur pompoms to add to hats – so I am looking for as many cute patterns that I can then add a fur pompom to… I’d say a nice slouchy hat, especially this one with its traveling cable, totally works. 🙂
