Pin Ups and Link Love: My Favourite Things This Week

Oops- I thought today was Friday, but it turns out it’s actually Thursday. Oh well, Friday Pin Ups and Link Love come one day early this week! 😉

It’s okay to want what you want, and not  feel guilty about it.  More wisdom from Danielle Dowling!

The uncomfortable truth: No one cares how hard you work. It’s about the results and the output, not the effort.

23 ways to treat yourself without buying or eating anything. Of course, I’m about to tempt you with recipes!

11 little things to be healthier. Some more doable than others (I don’t think I’ll ever be a morning exercise person, but it clearly works for some).

Pin Ups and Link Love: Apple Custard Bars | knittedbliss.com

I love these apple custard bars, because it’s such a nice variation on a typical apple pie- plus, this comes together without too many ingredients (and only 3 apples!). Pinterest link is here, and the original post is here.

Pin Ups and Link Love: Baked CHicken | knittedbliss.com

This baked chicken with spinach and artichokes is full of great seasonal flavour, and has lots of veg- plus, it’s really just the prep of getting everything into the pot and then baking it in the oven. Talk about easy! Pinterest link is here, and the original post is here.

Pin Ups and Link Love: Perfect Buttermilk Biscuits | knittedbliss.com

Just one more recipe that I couldn’t resist sharing- a perfect and easy buttermilk biscuit recipe. It even includes instructions for how to get them sky-high like that, which is all about folding the dough over and rolling it out multiple times, to layer the dough and create air pockets. Pinterest link is here, and the original post is here.

Pin Ups and Link Love: Easy Braided Updo | knittedbliss.com

I’m a big fan of this braided bun updo- super easy, and works with straight or curly hair. Pinterest link is here, and the original post is here.

Pin Ups and Link Love: How to Block a Sweater | knittedbliss.com

Still feel like you are struggling when it comes to blocking a sweater properly? Here is a guide from Tin Can Knits. Remember, you don’t just block your sweater when you finish it, you probably need to block it after every wash. Pinterest link is here, and the original post is here.

What’s on everyone’s agenda for this weekend? I’m about to plunge headfirst into a solid 10 days of meetings for work (!!!), so my next two weekends are pretty much spoken for.  I’d love to hear about the fun things that you guys are doing on your weekend!

10 consecutive days? That’s brutal! When I first started my job I had to attend the (impossibly long) daily newsroom assignment meetings and I’ll be forever greatful that I somehow managed to wriggle out of that. Being quite shy I always dreaded and overanalyzed my contributions. Hope you have some rest time to look forward to with treats peppered in between! The apple custard squares look like they’d do VERY nicely 🙂

That chicken recipe is definitely on the ‘to make’ list. Just have to shop for the artichokes.

Not sure about the morning exercise, does running round getting breakfast count? I like the idea of breaks every 90 mins though. Time to kinda get even with the smokers and their breaks!

My birthday is next Friday but I’m celebrating early. Tomorrow I’m taking my dad out for lunch (it was HIS b-day this week) and then I’m doing some shopping and then getting a massage. On Sat. I’m taking a class at my LYS to learn how to make a wet-felted bowl. I can’t wait!

Ooh, I like that hairstyle-hopefully I can get it to work! That chicken bake looks amazing too, I love artichokes so much and need more recipes for them 🙂 Here’s hoping the next10 days go smoothly for you-meetings aren’t the most fun 🙁

10 days straight?! Oh my – wishing you luck and energy to get through it all!
That hair-do looks fabulous, though I’m not sure how much more practical it would be versus a regular messy bun, ha! Also agree with the article about end results and how it feels at the end being more important than the effort put into it.

Hope you manage to get snacks and water to power you through these meetings. Those biscuits ! I’m reading your post late at night and it makes me hungry, just when I should go to sleep. :-0 This weekend is my knitting club time at home, it’s been too long since I had my knitting friends come share some tea and cakes with me. That will be fun!

  12. I ever rewash my sweaters. That must sound gross but I am way too lazy to reblock. So far, they don’t stink.

I’m definitely going to give that braided bun updo a try, looks so simple that even I should manage it 😉

My idea of the a horrible day is when I have to attend a meeting, so the thought of 10 days, freaks me out! I am so sorry.
Great links. I have re-pinned everything you listed.
I really like the link you shared of our idea of hard work- brilliant.

Fun this weekend, let me see. Just dropped hubby off at airport (he’s away for the week. Only good thing about that, I get to make all the dishes he doesn’t like). Getting ready to watch NE Patriots football and do some laundry. Afterwards, may get some knitting in or some sewing on my customer’s draperies. I love working at home (: Hope you are feeling well.
