Pin Ups and Link Love: My Favourite Things This Week

My Favourite Articles and Links This Week

Why you need ‘white space’ in your daily routine.

Sad portraits of your recycled electronics.

This was a pretty amazing talk by Glennon Doyle Melton. I’ve watched it a few times now, and it’s so good.

Have you guys heard about this whole eating cold oranges in the shower thing? I’m so intrigued, and I really want to try it out.

My Favourite Pins This Week

Do you love coconut the way I love coconut? I hope so! If you do, then you have to make these cookies, they are incredible. And if you aren’t a coconut lover, but wish to make a coconut lover adore you, then make them these cookies. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe post is here.

You know how much I love a quick and easy weeknight dinner, and this simple pasta dish is  easily pulled together with pantry staples, fresh or frozen spinach, and some cream cheese (which is a total fridge staple for me). Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe can be found here.

I absolutely love the idea of a tabletop s’mores pot, and this great DIY shows you exactly how to make your very own! The only thing I’m wondering is if you could use a natural candle instead of the pot of fuel? Has anyone tried? I’m not too excited about a little pot of flammable whatever on my table, but a candle or two feels more manageable. Pinterest link is here, and the original DIY is here.

This adorable kangaroo mama and baby is made from a pair of socks and some accent fabric. Isn’t it the cutest thing? What a wonderful gift to sew for a baby shower, or as a gift for a little one. Or heck, even a fully grown adult who loves kangaroos! Pinterest link is here, and the DIY post is here.

I know this is an almost ridiculous title for a post, but the ideas here are very realistic and doable. I remember when I first took the advice that we need to tell people what our goals are, they very often want to help us achieve those goals, so they do what they can to help (if they are in a position to do so). But no one can help you reach your goals if they have no idea what it is that you want. Great advice in here, no matter what your goal might be.  It is the start of a long weekend here in Canada, the Monday is a holiday. I’m hoping to pick out some plants for the planters, and try to do some gardening with Lila, who will be a big help since my left hand is a little out of commission.  Some friends are having a barbecue, and hopefully the weekend will be low key and relaxing. Wishing you all a wonderful, sunny weekend.

I really love “your favorite things this week”! Thanks much for sharing what your creative & inquisitive mind finds each week, Julie! Hope all is going well with your finger!

I just skimmed the link for “How To Get What You Want” and you know what? I think it’s true that telling people helps you get moving on something. I just quit one of the part time jobs I’ve had for a few years, and after telling a few people I was seriously thinking about it, I found it a lot easier to go through with. Not that I have big, grand plans for the future, but I can pick up more freelance work and have more control over my schedule, which is a big fat deal for someone trying to balance work and parenting.

Okay, that orange in the shower thing is so trippy. I love that table top smores idea! Trader Joe’s now sells smores ingredients. The sock kangaroos are so cute.

Enjoy your weekend my friend! I love those little kangaroos!!!!

I pinned the sock kangaroos too, so cute! Enjoy your long week-end, ours is next week with a super long 4 days off school and work.

Thanks as always for the links Julie – I loved the cookies and the sock kangaroos (even though I don’t sew). And those electronic photos were hilarious. So sad to think that only 10ish years ago so many of those were common objects.

    Have a great week!

I suspect that candles might make the smores a little paraffin-Smokey. Gel should burn ‘clean’.

Change the orange to a nice juicy peach and I’m all for it 🙂 My mom made a flower pot grill which we still use to grill hamburgers in the summer. Those coconut cookies look delish!

Wow, I just stopped everything and watched the talk by Glennon Doyle Melton. It is so good and I thank you for sharing it.

Love the sock kangaroos and, of course, the pasta dish. Am also intrigued about eating an orange in the shower!
