My Favourite Articles and Links This Week

Like going for brunch but hate waiting for a table? Meet the 11:47 a.m. theory.

Not a morning person? Me neither. But here are 5 great ideas on how to make mornings more tolerable. Currently I only do 2,3, and 5 (although my #5 is not lavender soap), so I’ve got room for improvement!

Saying no with grace.

If you could use a laugh, this video had me absolutely hysterical with laughter all of yesterday. I may have watched it more than 10 times – Definitely NSFW (language).

My Favourite Pins This Week

This spinach and artichoke pasta is a brilliantly easy weeknight dinner, and very budget friendly. A hearty, veggie-friendly dinner that comes together in under 30 minutes? Sold. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe can be found here.

Chocolate and peanut butter go together so well. Which means that these chocolate and peanut butter cookie bars are a delicious twist on the classic combo, with a thick, buttery cookie base.  Bake these when you are having people over, you don’t want to be left alone with them. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe post is here.

Lattes tend to be my coffee shop beverage of choice, but I rarely make them at home. When I do, I like trying out something a little different, especially when it has all my favourite fall spices in it like this maple spice latte. Cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and I add a bit of cardamom because I’m convinced cardamom makes everything better. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe post is here.

Something about playing with clay as a adult feels really relaxing, and I’ve been eyeing this tutorial for making this very pretty (and highly giftable) clay leaf dish. Pinterest link is here, and the original DIY post can be found here.

Is it too soon? Probably, but when it comes to crafting for the holidays, best to get  a jump on things. These adorable crochet Christmas ornaments are quick to whip up, and have all sorts of granny square charm. Pinterest link is here, and the original DIY post is here.

I feel like I’m finally getting a bit of a weekend to breathe, with the chaos of fall behind us, and it feels good to be getting back on top of things! I hope you have an amazing weekend.

Why haven’t I ever made myself a maple latte?! Genius!

I’ve been making tea lattes at home on the weekends and they are so yummy. I steep a cinnamon-y or nutty loose leaf tea for about 5 min. Then I add a pinch of sea salt & cinnamon, a splash of milk and about a teaspoon of maple syrup. I bought a cheap little handheld frother that I whir for a bit in the mug and that brings it all together. Yum!

The 11.47 rule: totally true. Some of my colleagues used to leave early at lunch time for a specific Indian restaurant that was always crowded: the only way to get in was to be there at 11:45ish, because at noon sharp it was too late.
And this JJ Smith video made me laugh to tears as well: the kind of crazy I love, oh goodness. I”ll have to show it to my husband now because he heard me snort with laughter. And chocolate peanut butter bar: you are killing my resolve to eat less sugar. Not sure I should thank you.;-)
Have a great week-end, sweet Julie.

Lovely and relevant pins, as always. I especially love the “saying no with grace” article and actually wish I’ve seen it when I was younger. And homemade lattes… I definitely need more of those, especially in the winter months! Thanks so much for sharing!
