My Favourite Pins This Week

‘Tis the season for slow cooker meals, am I right? The best thing about slow cooker recipes are chucking everything in, setting it and coming back hours later to a beautifully cooked dinner. This Slow cooker coconut chicken curry has loads of flavour and features plenty of fall veggies. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe can be found here.

Oatmeal chocolate chip peanut butter cookie bars. I don’t think I need to say anything else, really. Except don’t be home alone with a pan of these. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipes is here.

I love this DIY polymer clay tray idea, the colours could be customized for any style of decor, and it’s just plain pretty. Pinterest link is here, and the original DIY post can be found here.

If your go-to hair style is a ponytail, then take a look at these three ideas for ways to make your ponytail a little fancier. The above is my favourite, but they are all cute! Pinterest link is here, and the original post is here.

The season for gifting is coming up, and I don’t know about you, but we all end up giving (and getting!) some things that we end up keeping but never using. how about some gift ideas that give happiness, and not clutter? I love these suggestions (and I’m always down for a magazine subscription or a food gift!), and I think you will too. Pinterest link is here, and the original post is here.

The holidays and pre-holiday frenzy is hands down my favourite time of the year – but at the same time, it’s also the time of year where my house and life feels the most cluttered and when I realize that all this great new stuff coming in doesn’t necessarily have a home (and I really don’t need anything…) I LOVE the link to the decluttering tips and the minimalist gifts. I have a couple hard to shop for people on my list and I hate the idea of buying them something that’s either going to end up in a landfill. My holiday shopping just got a lot easier! xo

Chicken coconut curry and chocolate peanut butter cookie bars? Oh yeah.
I bookmarked the list of 100 questions for my future dinner parties, what a wonderful idea! I would write a third of them on small pieces of paper and put them in a hat, each guest picking one up to get the conversation started.
And I love the minimalist gift ideas. Gift to knitters are so easy, though, don’t you think? Give me some good yarn or a great knitting book anytime. I’m not fussy.
    Have a great week-end Julie.

The holiday decorations thing makes me laugh, because I first saw it about a week after I saw a story about how playing holiday music too early leads to feelings of anxiety and stress. So apparently we should put the decorations up but hold off on the music…

The one about choosing your traditions kind of struck home, though. I’ve been very attached to our family’s Christmas traditions for a very long time, but since my parents moved to the East Coast last summer, I’ve been kind of forced to adapt/build new traditions. To be honest, I’m not really quite at peace with that yet, but I’m working on it.

Thank you for sharing some great links again – you always find the perfect ones!
And thank you for the sale, whether or not I buy anything, I always appreciate the generosity of our knitting community.

    Have a great week 🙂

Where to start? Hmmm, who would ruin cookies by adding peanuts and/or peanut butter? That’s just from not liking it/them, let alone allergy considerations.

I thought the 30 items to Toss before December particularly good, though I’m going to have to toss 6 per day to get that in! Still, I could well make a start now, then have a 31 items to Toss before February next year for some of the rest!

And I love the minimalist gift idea. So many people these days seem to either have ‘everything’ or just don’t have the money to splash out. Besides which, when has giving someone more gifts rather than putting in thought and care ever been a good thing? Except, perhaps, with greedy and/competitive children.

As for putting up “Holiday” decorations early – I’ll stick to putting them up mid-December (which is Sister’s birthday.) I’m happy enough as it is. The shops over here have already had Xmas Muzak on loop the past couple of weeks. Pity the poor shop assistants who’d love to take a shot gun to the speakers!

I love Raymond Carver’s stories, so am psyched to discover what his mantra was. So simple and meaningful.

I’ve always felt that decorating for holidays makes me feel better. Now, it’s good to hear there’s scientific proof behind it. Let the tinsel fly!

Oh, and here’s to gifts of food 🙂

The chicken curry looks yummy. I love it when we put up the tree right after turkey day. I like to enjoy the lights as much as I can. I hope you had big sales during Black Friday and Small Business Saturday with your patterns. XO
