Have we talked about how much I love this broccoli salad? Because everyone in the family eats it, which is a miracle.  Plus, there’s bacon- which instantly makes everything amazing. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe post is here.

I don’t have a single weekend between now and the end of the year that doesn’t have some sort of party or gathering happening on it. Bringing a tasty dish to someone’s house is the best way to say thanks for hosting, and that’s when I want to make something decadent, like these salted caramel brownies. Because I can’t be trusted to be alone in the house with a whole pan of these. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe post is here.

What a clever idea, to do a dip dye (with food colouring, no less!) over knitted and crocheted items! This would work best on light-colour items of course, but what a great way to refresh some items that might be looking a bit grey and grungy from wear. Very clever! How sweet is this felt alpaca ornament?! I adore this felt craft, and wouldn’t it be cute to make a whole herd of these, with different coloured scarves? They would make excellent gift toppers, too. Pinterest link is here, and the full DIY is here.

Thanksgiving might be over, but it’s important to express our thanks to those we love all year long. here are 11 budget friendly way to show appreciation – Pinterest link is here, and the original post can be found here.

I love that salad! My mom has been making basically that exact recipe for years and I had forgotten how much I liked it. I wonder if my kids would eat eat… you’ve given me hope! Also, really loving the idea of a herd of felt alpaca’s wearing different coloured scarves and dip dyeing grungy mitts. That’s a great idea!

Broccoli has become taboo in our family, guess I fed too much of it to my kids and husband, now they positively loathe it! Too bad, this salad looks delicious.
Very interesting, this article on flakiness. I like the suggestions to enhance productivity with music, I read a while ago that Bach was the best for any intellectual work – there is something about the baroque tempo that helps the brain focus, because it is totally in synch with a peaceful heartbeat (or something to that effect, can’t remember exactly).
Can’t believe your baby boy is two years old already (and not a baby anymore) ! Time flies.
Enjoy your week-end, and your busy end of year.

I really like the list of ways to show appreciation. On that note, I sure do appreciate you! 🙂

The salad sounds and looks delicious. Will have to try it. And, of course, I love the nerdy love song with KITTEN.

Happy birthday, dear baby James! Have a great weekend celebrating. xo

Boy do the parents of (some) Millennials have a lot to answer for! Affirmation is all very well, but raising a generation of self-centred, self-obsessed ‘flakes’ with the self-esteem of a microbe . . . How did they do that?

Mind you, I think there is very little excuse for just dropping out or whatever without attempting to at least text that you are doing so. Sheer rudeness!

I may well try the skinny broccoli salad. I’m more than half-way to my ‘target weight’, going down, and am looking for good ideas. So, regretfully, I shan’t be attempting the brownies – salted caramel or not.

And the Nerdy Love Song is great, though due to ‘adult’ (hmmm, maybe read ‘hormonal teen’) themes I’ll only be sharing it with my husband. The kitten is just the icing on the cake. Or maybe the salted caramel on the brownies.

And to return to the 78% flakey Millennials – maybe they should read the 11 Thoughtful Ways to Express Gratitude.

Thanks for a great round up, Julie.

My daughter was just saying that she needed a cute ornament idea, so I’m sharing the alpaca with her. Just adorable!

    Happy Birthday James!
When he was born (what, 2 years ago already?!) I commented that we share a birthday and meanwhile I have another little granddaughter, born last year on the 4th, so just a year old – so many birthdays within a week in our family now :O

Always love all your links btw!

Nipping off to make that salad RIGHT NOW as it is still 80 degrees in New Orleans!

That food color dyeing looks really neat. I listen to Focus Study Music Academy when I need to focus, like typing up a post or reading blogs.
