Pin Ups: My Favourite Things This Week

hand warmers

Is it still crazy cold winter for you? because it totally is here in Toronto, Canada. I need some of these awesomely easy DIY hand warmers.

Are you trying to eat more veggies? But still totally want to eat french fries? Me too. let’s eat asparagus fries! Also included in the recipe are 3 kinds of dipping sauce.  nom nom nom.

These pretty pink meringues have their bases dipped in chocolate. They are so pretty, and would be wonderful for a special party. And because you ate asparagus fries, you totally have room to eat a bunch of these.

marble tray

This is probably the easiest DIY that yeilds such professional looking results. It’s a big marble tile, with cabinet handles glued on with industrial adhesive.  5 mins in a Home Depot and and you’d be all set for this.

wall stamp

After this long winter, I’m craving colour in my home. I don’ t know if I’m brave enough for this beautiful polka dot potato wall stamp technique, but I’m seriously thinking about it. Maybe there are wall decals that give the same effect?

Paint the wall! The worst thing that can happen is that you have to paint over it.

Oh man, I totally know what you mean about the colour. I am on the verge of doing something drastic as well. Just yesterday I was thinking, ‘I can’t remember what grass looks like’ and I was seriously dejected. A nice polka dot wall seems pleasant in comparison to the things I was thinking. I have a wall in the music room that needs some attention, I could always do music notes instead of polka dots…

Those hand warmers are so cute and certainly would be useful around here these days. Sheesh, enough already! And what a lovely thing that DIY serving tray is.

All I can think about that marble tray is how freaking heavy it would be. It is pretty though.

And I’m sure I’ve seen – recently – some sort of polka dot decals. Maybe in a buzzfeed list of ways to spruce up a college dorm?

When I was in college my mom got me multi-colored vinyl sticky polka dots for the walls. I used and re-used them 3 years in a row and now have them up on one of the walls of my closet. My mom got them at Target, but you can find them online in various sizes and colors and it’s a great way to play with different patterns and designs without committing to paint. Washi tape is also great for decorating.

    And YUM, asparagus fries!
