Link Love: My Favourite Things This Week

My Favourite Articles and Links This Week

I am finding this photo tour of an English garden to be deeply soothing. Just so beautiful.

Interesting- the case for great fake plants. I’m so intrigued! I so have a couple of fake plants that I inherited from the previous owners of my town house (I assume they were part of the staging? no idea) and they do look quite good, I think.

Be more realistic with the time you have. I’m terrible at this- I always think it will take me half the time to do something that it actually does!

I absolutely love this gorgeous beaded sculpture that honours the kids and staff at Sick Kids hospital– The Anishinaabe artist, Nico Williams, has created something truly spectacular. I have a lot of admiration and love for indigenous beadwork, and this is an incredible example of the modern art that is being done with this medium today.

I had an wonderful chat with Cabin Boy Knits on their vlog, and it was SO MUCH FUN! I hope you’ll give it a watch and enjoy, it was funny and clever and their questions were wonderful. Kits for the cowl can be found here!

My Favourite Pins This Week

Foil pack dinners are a quick and easy way to pull together a delicious, healthy meal with minimal time spent in the kitchen. This honey dijon chicken and veggies option is easy to make and also easy to substitute different veg for whatever you have on hand. Pinterest link is here, and the full recipe and directions can be found here.

As a die-hard dessert lover with a weakness for all the citrus desserts, these creamsicle cookies are perfect! A wonderful weekend baking project, and a tasty treat for yourself or for leaving on someone’s doorstep as a little gift. Pinterest link is here, and the full recipe is right here.

I love this DIY for creating a matte faux ceramic finish for containers, and would be beautiful on plant pots, too! The DIY starts with a white utensil holder, which is weird because her original didn’t really look that different from the finished result, but this would be an amazing upcycle for something that is functional but just not your colour or style. Pinterest link is here, and the video DIY is here.

I love this super cute crocheted Pusheen (a famous cartoon cat, like a modern Hello Kitty, for those that are wondering what/who Pusheen is)! It’s a cree pattern too, which is so generous. You can save it for yourself on Pinterest here, and check out the awesome free crochet pattern here.

I really love these alternatives to ‘How Are You?’ because it’s hard for most people to honestly say good, even though that is definitely my automatic reply whenever I’m asked. These questions allow room for people to talk about the challenges of our current time, ina more open way. Great ideas here! Pinterest link is here, and I original found it here.

Have a great weekend , everyone! Today we are celebrating Lila’s 9th birthday (can you believe it? I keep thinking she is this small). We just had a virtual birthday party on Zoom (hello second pandemic birthday for Lila), but it went well. Wishing I could share a slice of cake with you all!
