If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw a whole bunch of photos on my Instagram stories of me, Tanis (of Tanis Fiber Arts) and Shireen (of The Blue Brick) having a little weekend away in Prince Edward County. I’m a massive fan of the county and have planning a weekend in the County down to an art. I know what area I like to stay in, my top criteria for an airbnb, when the best time is to go to certain places, which are my favourite wineries, and so on. We stayed in Wellington, at this airbnb, if you are interested. We all loved it!

And of course we took photos. Soooo many photos. Shireen has shared the project of this new shawl, which is a free pattern – the Sideways Emy! Click here for more info on it.

We brought tripods. And cameras. And it was great because we all knew exactly what we needed to play around with different photo ideas and get the shots. Like below! Getting those awesome sock photos.

And of course, shenanigans.

I think at the back of my mind I thought we would talk about maybe doing a retreat, something fun to share with others. But when we talked about what it would take to run something like this, and yet keep the intimate feel of our weekend away where we could be (as Shireen calls it) our ‘boring potato selves’: where we could be off the record, swear, and talk about deeply personal things and know that it was a judgment-free zone. I don’t know how you replicate something like that on a larger scale and make it any kind of a knitting event, really. Particularly for Tanis and Shireen who are far more ‘famous’ in the yarn world, and who would then have uncomfortable demands put on them (like ordering yarn and then asking for it to be hand delivered at an event, or asking a lot of extremely detailed questions about how they dye yarn or scale their businesses, etc. Not saying any of that would be truly terrible, but it would mean spending all their time being the face of their businesses, as opposed to relaxing.). So while it probably looks like we must be planning something, I assure you, we are not. There are no plans.

It was just a girls weekend, with a side order of knitting. And photography, because if there was anything the three of us completely understood, it was how we love to get a good shot.
So, I leave you with this video that Tanis took of me singing Baby Shark with a very tiny clothespin. In a restaurant. As you do.
