This was my pandemic cast on, and I love how it turned out.

Pattern: Elmhurst
Yarn: Berroco Providence in ‘Cliffwalk’
Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4)
Mods: None.
I cannot say enough great things about this yarn!! I loved it so much, and I’m eyeing the other colourways, thinking of alllllllll the sweaters I want to knit in it. The yarn is a blend of merino, baby alpaca, and silk, and it is so wonderfully soft! I love that the beautiful little specks of tweed, the colours give this so much depth and interest.
I have been wanting to knit a black sweater for years – black is a solid wardrobe basic, right? but the one other time I started knitting a solid black knit I never finished it (I still have it, one day!). But choosing a black colourway that has lots of visual interest like this meant it was so much easier to knit a ‘black’ sweater! It still feels like a wardrobe basic that i could wear with dress pants for work or jeans on the weekend and would be a great look whichever way I went with it.
The construction is a bottom up raglan, a construction style I haven’t knit in a long time. But it turned out beautifully, and I loved the mostly stockinette with some pretty details, which meant it was great ‘TV knitting’. I would happily knit this again, it’s such a wonderful classic silhouette and a beautiful yarn. Very happy knitting, indeed.
My ravelry project page for this knit can be found here.

And a photo of my cat Yarn, and her beautiful bright green eyes. Isn’t she lovely?
