Embroidery Ideas: Using Your Embroidery in a Quilt Square

Ways to Use Embroidery

I love seeing how people take a craft and really run with it, don’t you?  I was blow away when I saw what a long time knitter and all-round clever crafter Valerie did after she stitched the Cozy Winter embroidery kit. Valerie finished up her kit (you can find it here) and turned it into a quilt square, but she didn’t stop there-

THEN she turned that quilt square into a big project bag!

This is such a great idea for using embroidery as a quilt square, or in larger crafting projects. While there are a couple different ways to display embroidery hoops – hanging on a wall, or on a shelf or table top using a hoop stand – turning the embroidery into something else you can craft with is a great idea. I love how this looks as part of a quilt, and is such a fun way to experiment with putting your embroidery in different location, and using it in different ways. I’ve been planning on doing embroidery kit project bags, and it’s so fun for me to see something like this.

Valerie notes that this turned out to be a really big project bag, suitable for a big blanket or lots of storage, but I think that works brilliantly – sometimes you need those bigger storage options, and when it looks as pretty as this, it’s fine to leave it 0ut on display, don’t you think? You can see it on Valerie’s Instagram here, and she often shares gorgeous photos of all her crafting adventures.
