I was excited to design a new cowl that would be different from what I’ve been seeing lately – something warm but airy (because is fun to knit!) but also a modern, graphic lace that felt unfussy and modern. The arrowhead lace on this cowl is exactly what I wanted, and I find that the cowl looks good no matter what sort of jacket and style you’ve got!

The cowl is A shaped (funnel shaped?) with means it’s wider at the bottom than the top. I find this helps the cowl to sit really well and fall the way it should, without getting stretched out and too loopy.  i’ve worn both of these quite  bit, and I’m really happy with how I never feel like I need to be adjusting it. The design is full charted, and written out.

This design was sparked when I met Christopher of Cabin Boy Knits, and he wanted to have a special design for a gorgeous luxury base that he was working with, which is a merino, qiviut, cashmere and silk blend that is so incredibly soft! If you haven’t come across Cabin Boy Knits before, he is a Canadian Dyer that focuses on natural dyeing using botanicals. For these two colourways, the pink is dyed with Brazilwood and the blue with the Indigo plant. And he’s made a beautiful kit for both the yarn and the pattern!

The kit comes in two colours, Snowbird (a medium blue) and Constant Craving (Deep Rosy Pink). Included in the kit (which is adorably packaged in a little log cabin box, there’s also a hardcopy of the pattern (also an option to add a download for a pdf version either by email or via Ravelry), and a really clever knitting project notebook that is ideal for tracking your various WIPs. lots of great prompts for tracking cost, yarn weight, yardage, and something I find really useful- where you’ve got it stored! I can’t be the only one with various knits and yarn stored all over the place.

The kit would be an ideal gift for yourself, an upcoming birthday, or Mother’s Day. And if you want it for yourself, be sure to send someone the link as a major hint for what would make you happy!

You can also get just the pdf if you prefer – You can buy the pdf for the cowl either on my website in my shop, or on Ravelry. Your choice! And if you aren’t currently in the market for a fun new cowl pattern (what? gasp!)  and happen to be on Ravelry, giving it a heart on Ravelry and adding it to your queue also helps boost it’s visibility on Ravelry, which is already really crowded with patterns.

I hope you enjoy! If you have any questions about it, let me know!
