Since I was so happy with re-knitting my Pink Grapefruit mitts in the lovely Bijou Basin yarn, I thought it might be fun to revisit another pattern I designed a while back- Fairy Mist. This cowl was originally designed for lace weight yarn (and also works great in fingering), but I’m now knitting it in DK weight. I’m so smitten with how it’s turning out! I’m thinking of knitting it up in some other weights as well, and then revamping the pattern to include directions for the different weights. The yarn I’m using is a special 10th Anniversary yarn from Blacker Yarns. It’s going to be released in different colourways and weights on September 18th, but I was lucky enough to get to try it out early. A full yarn review will come with the finished knit post!

I know it seems a little crazy, but when knitting in the round I like to have all my stitches crammed on a slightly too short needle. I actually knit faster this way, since there’s less time spent manually pushing stitches around the needle. Anyone else like knitting with shorter needles for the same reason?
About the book in the photo- that is Traveller: Observations from an American in Exile by Michael Katakis. Katakis is an American photographer who has traveled the world, and this is a collection of short essays on the people he meets and the experiences he savours in different places. Each essay was like taking a mini vacation in some far-flung locale, as he talks about meeting with local citizens, and somehow has a knack for having really honest conversations with them, not just pleasantries about the weather or the food.
Just for fun, here is a photo of one of my cats, Gatsby, which I took at the same time as the photo above. I was pretty excited to get that natural bokeh effect. And if you look really closely, you can see he is currently sporting his much-enjoyed summer lion cut. I sometimes feel badly for Gatsby, because he seems so much happier when he has his haircut, that I wonder if he feels like a short hair cat trapped in along haired cat’s body. Is that even a thing?

And here is a photo grid I swiped from Guy’s Instagram feed of a recent night out. We went for a long walk and got some ice cream at a great little shop that isn’t far from us. And how awesome is that fox painting in the ice cream shop? I want it!
