If you are looking to diversify your reading with some great stories of what it means to be an immigrant, these are fantastic choices.

So interesting- 10 new ways to interact with your city. If you are feeling like where you live is getting boring, this might change your mind.

I’m going to get me some candlesticks!

I have been a Keanu Reeves fan for a very, very long time (and friends can verify that I have loved him even through the years when no one seemed to like him much), and this makes me love him even more. I secretly hope to meet him one day.

Some companies aren’t bothering with paying influencers for advertising- they are literally creating them on computers. The results are celebrities with millions of followers, even though they are a product and not human at all. I find this fascinating, but I also think that we will always prefer real people. But then again, if beloved literary characters were also fabricated instagrammers, would you follow their accounts and be influenced by what ‘they’ posted? Because I think I might….. I would follow Hermione Granger’s instagram account, for sure- even knowing it was a fabrication. A fascinating look at what might be happening more and more in the future.

My Favourite Pins This Week

Summer dessert flavours are something that feel so fleeting, so therefore a little extra special. And what is more summer than s’mores? These s’mores style squares are easy to make (only 5 ingredients!) and while the original recipe calls for corn syrup, if you are not a corn syrup user you could use agave nectar or honey. Pinterest link is here, and the full recipe is here.

I full admit that I am a sucker for any recipe described as ‘Mediterranean’, because it usually means it has olives and feta in it, which are pretty much my favourite things. I may have gone a little heavy on the olives and feta, though. This salad is SO easy, and tastes amazing! If you were looking to add more protein, a little chicken wouldn’t hurt it. Pinterest link is here, and the full recipe can be found right over here.

Embroidered denim is such a pretty, summery look. If you would like to give it a try, this is a great post on exactly how to get started. You could use all sorts of great embroidery designs, too- DMC has about a gazillion free ones, and you could find some excellent ones on Etsy, as well. Pinterest link is here, and the full tutorial for embroidering on denim is here.

This Super quick DIY for lace applique to the heels of your shoes is such a charming idea! You could easily do it on other parts of your shoes as well. Don’t just think about chunky heels when considering this project – how cute would this technique be on a pair of canvas sneakers?! Pinterest link is here, and the full DIY is here.

This happened to me in a recent (and huge) knitting project- I dropped a stitch and didn’t notice for a billion rows. Sigh. It doesn’t happen to me that often, so I feel like I had forgotten how to fix a dropped stitch properly! I figured I can’t be the only one- this tutorial has fixed my dropped stitch perfectly. Pinterest link is here, and the original link is here, but I have my doubts to how ‘original’ it is. If anyone know the true original source, please share! I prefer to give credit where credit is due.

It is a long weekend here in Canada- we will be taking the kids to Sudbury to visit my family! So I look forward to a lot of much-needed knitting time in the car, stuck in all that usual long weekend traffic. 😉 Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
