My Favourite Articles and Links This Week
I’m in awe of the scale and colours of these huge weavings– so graphic and fun.
Don’t worry if your lockdown didn’t feel like a personal growth sabbatical.
I loved reading this- Nigella Lawson and the pleasure of eating food.
Why your ’emotional runway’ is shorter than it used to be, and what to do about it.
I have another poem that’s online, if you’d like to read it- all about spending time on your own.
My Favourite Pins This Week
I’m really disappointed to report that Pinterest has changed how you can view your pins again, and suddenly there is literally zero way to view your most recent pins. I have been using the most recent pins section to be able to see where I left off from previous posts to get an idea of which pins were more recent and alos to compare for variety, making sure I wasn’t getting too set on one type of thing. It was wonderful to see my happy mix of recipes, crafts, inspiration, etc. all together on one scroll-able page. But now…. that is gone.
I’ve sent a message to Pinterest, and I can see Reddit is also lit up with questions about this. What I’ll have to do going forward is probably change the format to skip over Pinterest, and just link back to the original source. Thoughts?
So… please forgive this abbreviated version this week!

If you are looking for a lovely summer pasta idea, this Cajun chicken pasta is easy and comes together beautifully. It also allows for some substitutions, like skipping the chicken entirely, or adding in other veggies! I tend to throw a bit of spinach in everything. You can find the recipe right here.

Grilled fruit is a revelation- it’s amazing how much sweeter and more tender everything becomes on the grill. With peaches just coming in season, this is a great dessert to try for a hot day. Grilled peaches with browned butter, ice crema, and brioche cinnamon toast crumble on top! Trust me on this, you’ll love it. Even without the crumble, it’s still amazing. Find the recipe and instructions over here.

Looking for a refreshing beverage that makes you feel like you’re having a cocktail but also like you can still drive your car later? look no further! This grapefruit and thyme mocktail is so delicious and satisfying (but I highly recommend swapping out the tap water and using sparkling water instead- way more fun), and perfect to sip when you want to have something special but don’t want to have anything with alcohol. Find the very easy recipe right here.

Want to try pickling your garden’s gifts (or the delights of in-season at the grocery store)? This is a fantastic guide to making quick pickles out of almost every veggie you can think of! If you haven’t tried it before, it’s much easier than you would think and perfect for small batches. These quick pickles are refrigerator made and don’t require any of the usual canning that typically goes with making shelf-stable pickles. Check out the recipes and full guide here.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, enjoying the summer weather. We’ve had a lot of rain here, but hopefully it’s clearing up for the weekend. And if you have any suggestions for how you’d like to see these Friday posts evolve in the future, please let me know. 🙂
