Original Pattern: Halligarth
Knitter Extraordinaire: Birgit (Ravelry ID)
Mods: Using the fingering weight shawl lace pattern as a starting point, Birgit created this laceweight pullover using the lace stitch, and added contrasting i cord edging to the cuffs, hem and neckline for contrast. Project page can be found here.
What Makes This Awesome: Isn’t it always so impressive when someone takes a stitch pattern from a completely different type of pattern (in this case, a shawl) and transforms it into an entirely different concept? I love how the original shawl’s lace looks into this pretty pullover, and Birgit’s decision to liven up the palette of the sweater with a bold contrasting i cord trim at the neck, hem and sleeves- a nice pop of colour. Are there any stitch patterns you particularly love that might look good in sweater form? This is an all-over lace, but you could also experiment with a center lace panel down the front, or the only on the sleeves.

P.S. This isn’t the first time Birgit has been featured on Mod Mondays- her previously featured sweater was so popular she wrote out the pattern for it!
