What Makes This Awesome: Sometimes it’s the simplest of mods that can really have a big impact on a knit. Linda changed the proportions of the garter and lace sections of this shawl pattern, and it makes a huge difference on the appearance of this shawl. With more lace, it has a more delicate, ethereal vibe to it. This is a great idea if you want to make a shawl mod but don’t know where to begin! Choose a pattern that has some lace in it, and play with the ratios. Maybe add in stockinette, garter, or linen stitch sections to break it up, and see what you think. This is especially easy if you have already knit the pattern once before, and you feel comfortable with the lace. Try it for yourself!
