Original Pattern: The Prismatic Scarf
Knitter Extraordinaire: Sevil (Ravelry ID)
Mods: Using the scarf stitch pattern as a starting point, Sevil created a hat instead. Great details (with stitch counts!) can be found on her project page, here.
What Makes This Awesome: Generally, I follow a formula for winter accessories that helps keep things looking pulled together- 2 of the items should match/be the same colour. No more. But when you knit a lot of your own accessories, it can be hard to think of how you are going to pair things up- hats with scarves or mittens, etc. And so few of the awesome pattern out there have matching hats or mittens! But – check out Sevil’s clever idea. She took the stitch pattern for the popular scarf, and turned it into a hat, with great notes on her project page. Even adding in a contrasting stripe and crown, doesn’t it look fantastic?
