Original Pattern: Fox in the Snow Mittens
Knitter Extraordinaire: Lilja (Ravelry ID, blog)
Mods: Using the charts from the mitten pattern, Lilja created a great circular yoke (and steeked!) sweater for her nephew. She used the original pattern’s charts for the yoke and to add detail near the hem, and improvised the dotted stripes for the body and sleeves. Project page can be found here.
What Makes This Awesome: I love how Lilja took the charts and used it for a focal point on the round yoke. Round yokes are a great place for colourwork, and think of all the cool charts out there you might adapt for a round yoke like this! I also love the colours, as the muted greys help those fabulous foxes stand out even more. but the most interesting detail for me is the dotted stripes that she uses throughout the body and sleeves, which add the just the right amount of interest without competing with the foxes or distracting the eye. The overall effect is really cohesive and balanced, and has me thinking where else those great dotted stripes might turn up on future knits! Well done, Lilja!

Oh, and this isn’t the first time someone’s knit up incredible modification from the original pattern featured here- You should also check out these previous Mod Mondays- for more foxy sweater inspiration! A grown-up sweater here, and a baby sweater here.
