And the winner of the Knit Wit Game is….. Deb! The comments chosen are randomly selected, but I loved her comment: “I would love to win this game, every year for my birthday I request a game night with everyone unplugged from all electronics and it is the best birthday gift of all – we have so much fun!”

I’ll be emailing you soon, Deb! And now to our regularly scheduled content… Modification Monday!

Original Pattern: Old Romance

Knitter extraordinaire: Johanna (Ravelry ID, blog)

Mods: Dramatically altered the increases for the fronts so that it would have angular, flowing pieces that could be draped and added concealed buttons so that it can be fastened closed. Great details for how she handled the increases can be found on her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome: I love Johanna’s beautiful take on this cardigan. Adding drape to the front panels takes more than just increasing, especially around the shoulder and neckline. She carefully considered what would need to be done to avoid puckering, and also added in discreet buttons that would allow her to wear the cardigan closed.  It’s worth clicking through her wonderful photos, there are so many thoughtful details! One of the best things about knitting your own garments is the opportunity to add in details that will a sweater even more comfortable and wearable- and we all love sweaters that don’t require much fussing, am I right? This is beautiful, clever, and so inspiring. Well done Johanna!
