New Free Pattern – Taddle Creek Mitts

A quick, cozy gift idea that can also stashbust? Definitely.

Pattern: Taddle Creek Mitts

Yarn: Berroco Mercado (about a quarter skein of two colours)

Needles: 4.5mm (US 7)

These are a VERY fast knit and a quick gift idea that works well for stashbusting leftover bits of aran weight yarn, and are big enough to be unisex. If you have smaller hands or would like to make these for someone with smaller hands, I’d suggest going down a needle size and switching to a worsted weight.

I’m feeling very fortunate to have a second essay and knitting pattern in Taddle Creek magazine, because there are not a lot of places that are cool enough to be receptive to literary and crafty hybrids! You can find the essay I wrote- all about my thoughts on this pandemic time- and the free pattern here.

I’m a huge fan of fingerless mitts, because you can still use your devices or easily have your fingers free, but they definitely help keep your hands warm. I often keep a couple pairs in my purse for this exact reason- I can layer them over or under a pair of mittens or gloves in the winter, and in the spring or fall they are great for when it’s a bit colder out than you expected. That happens to me ALL the time, actually. I’ll think it’s going to be fine, but then I’m out longer than I thought or suddenly it’s windy, and I’m freezing. Every extra bit of cozy helps!

If you missed the scarf that was the first part of this pair, the blog post is here!

It would be great if you could give it a like on Ravelry, and maybe even add it to your queue, if you are so inclined. The same goes for the matching scarf if you are feeling generous! 🙂
