Our beloved hedgehog, Bruce Quillis, passed away. It appears to have been a combination of age and her weight (the vet said our hedgie was at a higher risk for fatty liver disease because she was not so into veggies but was very into mealworms, which is the hedgehog equivalent to a cheeseburger). Also, we bought an older hedgie that needed to be re-homed, not a young baby hedgie.

I talked to BQ every day, taking care of the daily needs and just generally checking in. I’m  in the habit of looking over at the cage every time I pass by, and it breaks my heart to look at the now empty space. Guy cleared away her cage, wheel and toys while I was sleeping to spare me the painful task. He also buried her in the garden under a tree. Oh yeah- turns out Bruce was a girl, not a boy. that was a news flash at the vet office a while back!

Goodbye, Bruce Quillis. You were much-loved.
