Want to (Virtually) Hang Out on Saturday?

I’m launching a new pattern with Cabin Boy Knits this weekend, as part of Knit City Virtual! So, first up- come and hang out with me and Jamie & Christopher (Cabin Boy Knits) for FREE this Saturday- this is the page with the zoom link and the time info (1 pm Eastern time, 10 am pacific time). Did I mention it’s totally free? Come hang out with us.

Knit City was supposed to be in Montreal Canada last March, but was cancelled in the first wave of the world shutting down due to Covid (although we were all still calling it coronavirus back then). We put this project on hold while we all were reeling from what the impact and timeline of the virus might be.

And here we are, a little over a year later- Knit City has gone virtual this weekend, and I’m going to be virtually hanging out at the Cabin Boy knits trunk show, just like I would have been in real life in the booth – wearing this awesome cowl, having people try on the awesome cowl, and answering any questions you might have!

As a warm up, you can watch an awesome video of us having a fantastic chat here – as well as some sneak peeks at the cowl and some forthcoming embroidery kits!

Let’s chat a little bit about the cowl, shall we? The cowl is an arrowhead lace, which to me is a very modern, graphic sort of lace that I’m not seeing in patterns much lately. The cowl is funnel shaped, so that it hanged beautifully and doesn’t require you to constantly fiddle with it. The pattern is fully chartered and written out, so whichever your preference, the pattern has you coverered. I’m a smaller-built human, and the lace is super stretchy, so the cowl can also go over my shoulders, like a capelet. Which gives a really clear look at the lace detail:

You can check out the kit – which  come adorably packaged in a sweet log cabin box, and includes a hard copy of the pattern (you can get a digital download as well), a skein of this incredibly soft qiviut and shetland wool in the colour of your choice, as well as a brilliant notebook for tracking details and notes for your knitting projects!

Here’s a photo of the Snowbird colourway and the notebook, you’ll be able to see the blue version at the trunk show on Saturday. And the notebook that is already cleverly laid out to track your knitting projects! (Basket and mug are my own, not the way the kit comes packaged. I just really like photo props!)

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday! Set an alarm on your phone, you won’t want to miss it!
