Modification Monday: Tegna Goes Cardigan

Original Pattern: Tegna

Knitter Extraordinaire: Sandra (Ravelry ID)

Mods: Lengthened the sleeves, and added an extra 7 stitches through the center to steek into a cardigan. Project page can be found here.

What Makes This Awesome: The very popular short sleeve pullover looks so different as a long sleeved cardigan, and I love it! For those that aren’t into summer knits, Or those that like a knitted tee idea but feel like they would never wear it- here is a great solution! Cardigans are usually more trans-seasonal than a pullover or a knitted tee would be.

This particular example is steeked, so it would help to have some steeking experience before experimenting with a pattern that had no steek, but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t do your research and go for it. I love how all the details are really the same- same neckline, same lace edging – but lengthening the sleeves and making it into a cardigan changes the look entirely. What do you think? Would you steek a pullover pattern and make it into a cardigan?

Oh I love this. I really do want to try to steek something one day, just need to build up my confidence.

I was thinking of doing this and wondered whether anyone had made it into a cardigan yet. Hooray it looks great! I wear cardigans way more and thought a mashup might be in order!!

I’ve steeked a pattern written as a pullover, and it was my first steek! I practiced on my swatches and I will absolutely do it again. It’s definItely high adrenaline knitting, and so fun.
This tegna cardi turned out beautifully. Steaks are awesome.

My day just got so much brighter! You’ll have to lend Sandra your lemon pillow. I think it’s a match.
