Great rice side dish

This garlic butter rice and kale is the sort of deeply comforting and warming dinner idea that I really crave in the autumn. There’s a lot of kale hiding in this dish, so it make s a great side dish or a totally legitimate main if you are craving comfort food. A little shredded cheese on top? That’s my gift to you. I recommend a little shredded cheese on top. But I love cheese. Find the recipe (without cheese!) right over here.

Baked maple pecan oatmeal, for when you want something that tastes really decadent but is actually healthy! This is a great weekend breakfast or brunch idea, and will make your whole home smell incredible. Plus oatmeal is so good for you- it’s practically a vegetable. I mean, it’s NOT a vegetable, but it’s good for you! SO we should all make and eat this. The recipe is waiting for you, right here.

The wonderful women at Tin Can Knits have put together a great guide on getting started with colourwork, and it’s so informative that I recommend for any knitter looking to get more comfortable with reading colourwork charts, managing floats, and all the mechanics of colour knitting. Find it on their blog, here.

Fall Decor Easy Fall DIY Decor

Now that it’s October, it’s mini pumpkin and decorative squash season! I love how cute these are, but have learned the hard way that if I leave them outside my doorstep, squirrels snack on them and neighbour kids ‘relocate’ them. But inside, they are safe, and amazing to turn into votive candle holders that are so pretty and seasonal. Find a great tutorial on how to make them here.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! It’s a long weekend here in Canada- Thanksgiving weekend! I’m so thankful for so many things, big and small. Even if it isn’t thanksgiving in your part of the world, I hope that you take a moment to feel grateful for the things, no matter how small, that give you joy, or peace, or satisfaction. Wishing you all a cozy weekend.
