It’s been a while, but check out this amazing modification!

Original Patterns: Gramps and SpiceÂ
Knitter Extraordinaire: Allison (Ravelry profile, Instagram)
Mods: Alli combined the top-down Gramps cardigan from the cast on through the yoke, and then began integrating aspects of the Spice cardigan after putting the sleeve stitches on holders. Buttonband and garter stitch shawl collar are from Spice, as well. Additional details involved having a chenille vintage team logo made, and adding suede elbow patches. Great notes can be found on her project page, here.
What Makes This Awesome: Alli wanted to create a vintage, letterman-style cardigan for her Habs-loving (that’s the Montreal Canadiens hockey team!) for her Dad, for Christmas. There are so many thoughtful details on this project, but I also love that she started out thinking to make some changes on the Gramps cardigan pattern before Spice came out as a new pattern, and she decided to integrate those details as well. Who says you have to have the whole modification completely planned out before you start?
This is a brilliant idea for anyone who loves the vintage look of these classic cardigans. You could customize the colouring based on whatever team (or even school!) you’d like. I really think the logo makes it (Allison commissioned it from a punch needle shop on Etsy), and it’s a great detail, along with the stripes on the opposite sleeve. I love how this looks- and of course, her Dad loves it too!

This looks so sharp and professional. What a lucky dad!
This is perfect! Down to the jersey stripe on the left arm and the punch needle patch. What a wonderful gift.
