Link Love: My Favourite Things This Week

It’s kind of a big week for me- I’ve just soft-launched my shop with four knitting-themed embroidery kits! You’ll notice a few changes pop up around the site in the coming months, but there will always still be knitting. If there are specific things you would like to see on the site, let me know. I appreciate you all being here!

My Favourite Articles and Links This Week

These thread sculptures are incredible.

Amazon returns are not just being resold. Here’s an interesting experiment in Canada about putting gps trackers in several Amazon items, and then returning them.

I found this hilarious- famous writers on life in lockdown.

This is very interesting- a game that teaches people exactly how spreading disinformation works by… pretending to spread disinformation. Fascinating!

I died laughing. I think this means I’m officially middle aged.

My Favourite Pins This Week

I love spaghetti squash, but definitely classify it as a weekend meal because I roast it in the oven, and then cool it so I can shred it with a fork, and it is all sooo worth it. This amazing skillet-style spaghetti squash dish is full of flavour and veggies and cheese, and it’s delicious. I love spaghetti squash season! Pinterest link is here, and the full recipe can be found here.

If you love magic cookie bars, then this is a really good seasonal take on them. The flavours are fantastic and I had no idea there even were pumpkin spice chocolate chips in the world! Pinterest link is here, and the full recipe is here.

If you are a coffee lover and looking for a healthy breakfast idea, what about a coffee smoothie? Just a few ingredients – coffee, oats, banana, milk and maybe a spoonful of nut butter if you feel like it- and away you go! Pinterest link is here, and the full recipe is right over here.

It’s always a great time to knit a reusable tote bag, I think. This is a great one – free pattern, stretchy but not TOO stretchy (I have absolutely knit a market bag that could stretch to fit an rhinoceros before), because the world doesn’t need another plastic bag and you probably need to destash some leftover yarn anyway. Ooh, I think it would look good in stripes! Pinterest link is here, and the full pattern can be found here.

I know, I know- a fall garland, no one really needs one. But you know what? We do all need one! Something pretty and cheery to dress up a room or a feature and bring something beautiful in. Plus crafting is always fun, right? This is made with faux flowers and leaves, and some thick yarn. And it would be a gorgeous reminder of this strange, but still lovely autumn. Pinterest link is here, and the full DIY is here.

Have a great weekend, everyone. I hope you enjoy a tasty treat, enjoy the fall air, and do something wonderful.

Love your blog and I look forward to each email. Thank you for all your wonderful
stories, yummy food and great projects. I’m from Pennsylvania and like you are
enjoying the beautiful Autumn colors and crisp mornings. It truly is a beautiful
season to enjoy. Also wanted to send out a note on the “Mama in a Stitch” bag.
Just a warning I have made several of her patterns. Unfortunately two of them
were incorrectly written and I am not that experienced of a knitter to recognize the
mistakes. I wasted a lot of yarn and time. Wishing you and yours a wonderful
    Autumn.

That is interesting! I haven’t made her patterns, but she puts out new ones so frequently that I wondered about that- the time it takes to test and tech edit, it’s a lengthy process normally! Hmm. Definitely good advice. THat one probably isn’t for new new knitters!

Congratulations on your lovely online shop. These kits are absolutely gorgeous, and they would make me a great gift for crafters.
