Original Pattern: North Shore
Knitter Extraordinaire: Jennifer (Ravelry ID, blog)
Mods: Changed up the design on the yoke using charts from selections Alice Starmore’s Charts for Color Knitting, combining two different charts to make the new yoke. Details can be found on her project page and her blog post, here. The blog post in particular has good points about what to consider when choosing to substitute charts for a yoke.
What Makes This Awesome: Jennifer’s daughter Caragh loved her North Shore so much, she asked her mom to her one- but really soft and with a geometric design on the yoke. Jennifer happily knit her daughter this buttery soft cashmere version, with a yoke that is comprised of two different charts. I know it actually looks like three different ones, but Jennifer cleverly inverted the top chart colour values to frame the central diamond motif. For a finishing touch that looks so wonderful (worth clicking over to view the close up photos of the yoke) she duplicate stitched some small white details to the center of some of the ‘spokes’ that are in the design. I love how this sweater turned out so much- I wish I had one just like it! Good thing I have the same Alice Starmore book. 😉
