Original Pattern: Chrysocolla
Knitter Extraordinaire: Karen (Ravelry ID)
Mods: Changed the crew neck sweater to a v-neck, reduced the amount of bobbles, completely redid the sleeves. Great details and lots of notes can be found on her project page, here.
What Makes This Awesome: Knitters, you know how bobble knitting can be a love or hate thing- and sometimes you just need a bit of bobble, not a whole lot. I love how Karen simplified the look of the sleeves, which were a little too bobble-licious for my taste, and her version really allows the gorgeous cables and textured stitches to shine even more. The deeper neckline also helps balance out all the gorgeous stuff happening on the front of the sweater, which I truly love. Karen’s take on this pattern is fantastic!
Don’t forget that when you see a pattern that you love but think it might be too much, consider editing out some of the elements and focusing on the parts of the pattern you love best- it just might turn out even better than the original.

Truly gorgeous, and not overwhelming on her frame despite all the texture. A most beautiful knit.
That neckline is so great–really pretty on her!
Stunning! I am in awe of those patterns and the ones who can take the time to actually make them.
Oh, this sweater is so great! She made some excellent mods, I love how it looks on her!
I know I’m late to the party but glad I got here eventually. As I wrote to Karen I particularly appreciated her description of how she achieved the PERFECT vee neckline. So hard to find for some reason. Thanks Julie!
