Original Pattern: Lonely Souls
Knitter Extraordinaire: Kat (Ravelry profile, blog)
Mods: Kat changed the single silhouette of a horse into a unicorn, and mirrored it on both sides. Also changed the moss stitch hem and cuffs to ribbing. Great details can be found on her pattern page, here.Â
What Makes This Awesome: Um, UNICORNS!! I feel like there isn’t anything I need to say other than that, but I will go on because there is a lot to love about this stunning sweater. I love the great colours Kat chose, and I love the balance of the two unicorn silhouettes. It’s playful but still simple, and her choice of a lovely speckle yarn makes the yoke looks like the most delicious funfetti cake ever. I saw this on her Instagram and immediately loved it, and wanted to make one myself. Not enough unicorn motifs in knitting, if you ask me. If you like this idea but don’t know how you feel about unicorns across the bust, this could also be a fun idea to try near the hem of the sweater as well. Still have the solid colour change from yoke to body, but then echo the yoke colour again with the unicorn heads at the hem. Something to consider, if suddenly you are completely obsessed with making a unicorn sweater – which now I am.
Also, I want to say that I’ve been reading Kat’s blog for years and she is such a great knitter and designer- I highly recommend.

Like you, I loved this at first sight. So inspirational.
