Original Pattern: Ripple Bralette
Knitter Extraordinaire: Melanie (Ravelry profile, website)
Mods: Lengthened the original design, and instead of working ribbing all around, Melanie worked a lace stitch she found in a Japanese stitch dictionary. Details are on her project page, here.
What Makes This Awesome: I’ve got this same pattern in my queue, and loved finding this gorgeous mod of it! Melanie lengthened the design to be more of a crop top than a bralette (the pattern looks very easy to customize), and then she really went for it and changed the back to a beautiful lace design that she admired from a Japanese stitch dictionary. Such a beautiful, incredible idea – especially for those larger lace panels that you see and would love to knit!
The benefit of keeping the ribbing on the front half (or you could reverse it, the back half – although then you would have to consider how your design would work with the shaping at the top front) means that the knit will still have the fit designed for the original pattern, but gives you room to play around with other stitch ideas as well- I think this pattern just moved to the top of my queue!

This ones been on my mind a lot lately. Thanks for highlighting this gorgeous mod.
Melanie did a beautiful job in creating a keepsake. i finally am excited to knit something for summer! I’ve been in a lull because I am waiting for cold weather.
I didn’t love the original pattern, but this is amazing! The lace is gorgeous.
Wow that is stunning.
