Modification Monday: Tapestry Mitts

Original Pattern: Endpaper Mitts

Knitter Extraordinaire: Joanna (Ravelry Profile)

Mods:  Swapped out the original stranded design for a completely different chart, which Joanna kindly shares on her project page.

What Makes This Awesome: I’ve got a lot of time for fingerless mitts that really go for broke with colourwork charts. They are small, and even if you are a sloooooow knitter, these are worth experimenting with because the results can be so amazing.  These mitts have a wonderfully detailed chart, but it’s really manageable with the two colours, and you could even use a gradient yarn or a variegated yarn for one of the colours to add more visual complexity, if that’s something that appeals to you. I love this two colour version, the contrast isn’t too stark and it looks really elegant – don’t you agree?

A truly beautiful work! Indeed, such a complex chart on a small project seems less daunting.
