Modification Monday: Wonderful Wallaby with Robots II

Original Pattern: Wonderful Wallaby

Knitter Extraordinaire: Katherine (Ravelry Profile)

Mods: Eliminated the hood and the kangaroo pouch, and instead worked in a band of robots! Details, including a link to the robot chart, can be found on her project page.

What Makes This Awesome: I am always for people experimenting with a bit of colourwork, especially on children’s knits! They knit up fairly quickly and are a great way to experiment. I love this fun robot chart – they all seem to be a bit different and have little personalities, which I can imagine was a huge hit with this little one. The chart is really fantastic, I love the different expressions on their robot faces.

I also love how she opted to have a little collar instead of the hood. Not only is this is great idea if you think that the hood won’t ever get used, but also if you are unsure if you have quite enough yarn. Which is another bonus on using a great chart like this- it uses less yarn of the main colour, and gives you a chance to potentially stashbust, as well!

Adorable! I’ve made wallaby several times and would love to check this out but can’t get links to work. Thank you! Love your blog.

How cute! (The sweater and sweateree)
What a great way to make sure kids will want to wear a sweater.
    And what a cute chart!

Last week was crazy, unfortunately- a friend passed away on March 6th (not virus related), and then the whole coronavirus thing got real, very quickly. It’s a weird time, but trying to get back to regular programming!
