Country House Knits is a new collection from The Blue Brick, featuring eleven patterns (and more!) for accessories that work across multiple seasons. Lots of cowls, shawls, wraps, and hats with a variety of texture and techniques that are perfect for gradient yarns and ombre yarns. If you are feeling adventurous, you could even use mini skeins or partial skeins and blend things together yourself.

There’s a lot ot love from the collection, and but I think my favourites are all things I could knit and wear now, knowing that summer is arriving:

Don’t you love a good one-skein wonder? This shawl uses just one skein of The Blue Brick Point Pelee Lace, and the effect is stunning. Would look perfect with just about every summer outfit, when it’s roasting outside but the second you go inside, the air conditioning is a little too enthusiastic. And look at it- it’s just so darn pretty!

If you love colourwork but want to let the yarn do the heavy lifting, this is perfect-knit with two skeins of gradient yarn in the same colourway, they are blended together for stunning effect. I’m thinking this is perfect for putting on by a campfire on chilly summer nights, and then wearing it as a huge cuddly cowl with a coat in the winter.

Perfect for blending together two gradient skeins of fingering weight yarn (shown here in The Blue Brick Killarney Sock), This is all about the squishy garter stitch- perfect knitting for road trips and anywhere you want to be where you don’t need to keep looking at your hands. And then you end up with a colourful wrap wrap that looks like it’s perfect for just about every season.
That little bit of knitting you see in some of the photos? I’ve cast on for a new tank top- I’m making it up as I go along. So far I know it will have a split hem. 😉 But the yarn is from The Blue Brick- a single ply merino that looks like a sunset, and makes me wish I knew where the ball band went….
Back to the pattern collection! Country House Knits is available both as a hardcopy and as a download (the hard copy comes with the download code as well) for $29 Canadian (approximately $22 US).
