Pin Ups and Link Love: My Favourite Things This Week

My Favourite Articles and Links This Week

Camouflage knitting!

Hilarious and so accurate – Towards a bra-free Instagram Experience. My feed is full of fitness ads, because I recently clicked on a bunch of yoga and pilates workouts as a cardio-free way to try to get a bit of exercise (slowly!) back into my life while I’m recovering. Now every time I open Instagram, women are planking or in warrior pose. But then there’s books and yarn, so I guess it all works out.

On feelings of inadequacy, envy and comparison- “what if we said, ‘she’s beautiful but so am I’?”

I’m always on the lookout for productivity ideas, and this is one of the better lists I’ve found recently- 9 time habits that will make you super productive. I especially love the emphasis on figuring out the bedtime that works best for you, not turning on the TV 2 nights a week, and having afternoon tea. because scheduling in a meaningful break does make you more productive.

My Favourite Pins This Week

You guys know how much I love chicken and avocado together (James loves it too- he often toddles into the kitchen chanting, ‘awoe-cado, awoe-cado!’) And this is a super easy idea for lunches or quick dinners  – and there’s no rule slaying you have to use these specific ingredients, go with whatever you have on hand that might work together. no chicken, but have some steak or tofu? Go with that. Not an avocado fan? Skip it, add some dice bell pepper if you want a bit more veg, etc. Pinterest recipe is here, and the full recipe is here.

These Reese peanut butter cup chocolate truffles are super easy and only have 5 ingredients! The recipe calls for a bit of shortening in with the chocolate you melt to coat the truffles, but I’m not a shortening person, and can attest that normal butter works just fine. Pinterest link is here, and the original recipe can be found here.

How cute are these leftover yarn holders?! It’s a free print out from Picot Pals- you print them out onto cardstock, and decorate your llama, and wind your leftover yarn! I love these. Pinterest link is here, and the original post with the print out can be found here.

Speaking of leftover yarn, what a great way to use up small bits of yarn, and crochet this incredible hat! Free pattern, too- Pinterest link is here, and the original pattern can be found here.

I can’t imagine needing eight different desserts all at once, but if I did, this is genius!! Totally worth watching the very short video, and clicking through to see the full post. What a clever idea. Pinterest link is here, and the original post can be found here.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! My energy levels have been really low lately, so I plan on doing some champion napping, and possibly checking out the City of Craft Valentine’s Pop Up this Sunday – I love perusing artisan anything, so this is right up my alley. We’ll see if I can stay awake long enough to make it!

LOVE the Instagram story. My Twitter feed is practically the same. And I don’t even do yoga!

Ha, ha, the Instagram story is the best. I do get weird ads, they seem to be allover, maybe because I’m not enough on social media that they can figure out what I really like (apart from yarn and good food).
Hope you get plenty of rest – the heart of winter is tough, all I want to do every night is sip wine and curl up with a good podcast and my knitting. This is my plan for Sunday, for sure.

Hooboy is that IG article ever accurate! I’m afraid of even accidentally clicking on any of the dozens of glamour/fitness IG post that pop up in my search feed out of fear of being bombarded with more of them. Thanks for the chuckle! And I’m loving the productivity advice. I’m halfway through the article and wanted to come back here for a quick comment before getting back to it, this time with a notepad because I want to write some of it down. Great find!

Love the crocheted hat and, of course, the llama yarn cards!

    Great list, as always.

I love that we are not only music twins, but food twins as well. I love the combination of avocados and chicken. Those roll ups are the ticket!
    The productivity tips…spot on.
