2 QUICK FO’s FO YOU: FOURTEEN, TRAVIS MITTIS

Need a quick fix?

FO: fourteen and i like it
FO: fourteen and i like it

Pattern: Fourteen by John Brinegar of yarn ball boogie

Needles: 13mm gold straights

Yarn: homespun tweed that had been stashed longer than I can remember

Notes: Quick, easy and should have been done ages ago. Perfect for last minute holiday gifts. Thanks to Tobes for posing shirtless in the cold.

Modifications: None, I think I mad have done a sewn BO instead of a crocheted one due to the fact that I can’t crochet. A fact that nags at me more and more everyday. *ahem*

Next up…

Pattern: Travis Mitts I used the thumb gusset from Porphyria by Cissy Black

Yarn: Knit Picks Essential 1 skein

Needles: 3.25 crystal palace dpns

Notes: I hate dpns. Must learn magic looping.

Modifications: I made it up as I went along but I kept good notes so not to forget when making the second mitt. I wanted the thumb gusset from Porphyria and worked the west of the piece around that. A tight sturdy cast off completes the look.

Magic loop is the best. I like that I don’t have to worry about losing needles. It’s really easy too – I think Knit Picks has a video tutorial on it on their site.

Nice! I like the rustic buttons with the tweed.
I’ll have to try that thumb gusset, it looks good! I always have trouble with mine.
Hmmm, I wonder if I can get my boy to pose shirtless…

i have been lusting after fingerless mitts but i fear the thumb gusset! i love quick and fun FOs… like a little boost to the knitting ego.

I learned magic loop from the knitting help.com website. So easy, I will never go back to DPNs!

I absolutely love those buttons with that yarn. Definitely one of my favorite Fourteens out there!

Those came out great! I agree about the tweed and buttons giving a great rustic feel.

Great pics too! I can’t even get a guy to take a pic, let alone shirtless. lol. Bravo.

    Those are so lovely,
now I am off to find a hunky shirtless man to model my newest knits…
    heheh

I’m with the general consensus here: great, quick-yet-satisfying knits, and way to go getting the cute boy to pose shirtless in this weather we’ve been having 🙂 Geez, my hubby won’t even listen to instructions to smile for the camera once in a while, let alone strike a pose sans shirt!
