Vote: Help Me Choose a New Project Bag!

As someone who ALWAYS has multiple projects on the go, I’m perpetually in need of project bags. Rather than work more aggressively on finishing them up already (yeah, yeah, I know- some have been languishing in WIP status for over a year!), I think it’s so much more fun to just get a new project bag.

First of all, I had this idea  to have you all help me pick a bag a few weeks ago, and several of the ones that I would have chosen for this have already been snapped up. So my advice is that if you see a project bag that you like somewhere, get it quickly before someone else does! So many great project bags are sewn by small indie businesses  (like Alecia at Madbird) so there really isn’t huge stock of the same kind in a warehouse somewhere. Usually, only a few of each print are made. Knowing this, I’m about to ask your advice on which project bag I should get next, knowing full well that there is a chance that someone is going to snap up the last one before I get a chance. There are lots of other styles and sizes, if you are thinking of it!

I definitely want a drawstring bag, and I like that these ones from Madbird are totally reversible- I can use it one way for a while, then turn it inside out and feel like I have a brand new project bag. Very cool. Of course, this means that both sides of the fabric are really important to consider!

Here’s the three I’m considering. Left is Giant Octopi Blush, middle is Wasabi, and the Right is Harajuku Garden.

So what do you think- would you vote for one of the above, or do you think I should do something totally custom, with totally different fabric? Vote!

What a great idea! Also, it makes me want to buy another project bag, although I am a one WIP kinda girl!

I do not think I would be brave enough to even post this – simply out of the fear that it would be gone before there was even any amount of votes to base the opinion on! 😉
All three look lovely, though, and I’m betting a custom order would be amazing, as well. Hope you are able to find a bag that you love!

I love little project bags, pencil bags, make-up bags and whatever other little bags there are for little things and projects out there. I’ve been thinking I should try my hand at making some, because I don’t have enough money to buy all the little bags I want. (Plus unfinished projects seem so organized when they are stacked in those pretty bags.) Hope you get the one you want. Cheers!

They are all really pretty. It’s a cool idea to run a poll when you don’t know what to choose ! Hope you get the one you want.

I vote for octopi! What a cool name, it actually sounds like a movie “A Giant Octopi” is coming 🙂 🙂 It is so cute and I think orange is your blog’s “signature” color. Looking forward to seeing what you choose!

You can never have too many project bags! They aren’t reversible, but I really like the bags The Guy Who Sews makes. They are inexpensive, wash well, the drawstrings do a great job of keeping the bags closed yet they open easily. https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheGuyWhoSews

Voted. I do like that Wasabi one.

As a project bag junky- I vote for the octopus due to the airy simplicity of the fabric.

Love the Harajuku Garden. It even seems to match your site 🙂

Fun! I do like the reversible- it does seem like something new. And maybe it’s just me but I like a project bag that matches the project colors.
Custom is always a good idea-& if you do it, do it in multiples. 🙂

These are so great! And now I’m looking around the madbird website 😉

My vote goes for the Octopi, but since customization is an option I’d take it with the Wasabi’s interior.

She makes bags with vinyl panels so you can see which project is in the bag. She also does different sizes, in my large size one I have a sweater I’m making out of Briggs and Little Country Roving it’s awesome at carrying around all the components & yarn cakes required). The small size is perfect for carrying shawls/socks/mitts/hats etc. I adore them so much! (and I’ve got a lot of yarn bags)

Very difficult choice, they’re all lovely. But my fave is Wasabi I think!

Hi, Wow! I love all those choices, but I’d go for the Octopus. Love that symbolism for us knitters who always have more projects than we have arms for (ha!). I would happily carry any of those project bags as my everyday bag (my everyday bag is a knitting bag, not a purse). My project bags are see through zip-close bags or, if needed, the ginormous zip-close bags from the $store. They had some snap-close bags, clear with stenciled designs that are cute enough to carry outside the house. I found that if my UFOs are in clear bags, I know what’s in them and I’m more likely to get rid of the boring plastic bags.

So so cute! I voted for the Octupi. 🙂
