How to be lucky.

This is a wonderful essay by actress Emma Thompson on the female body and ageing, as she lives with her daughter and her mother during Covid. So beautiful.

I loved this piece on hot water bottles through history, and how they are pretty fantastic. I adore hot water bottles, and still think very fondly of two air staff that made me one out of an empty plastic water bottle on a particularly chilly flight about 3 years ago.

I love a good sheet pan dinner, and chicken thighs do so well in the oven in this sort of recipe, definitely my fave. Don’t let the ingredients for this daunt you- Most of them are for the marinade/sauce and I find greek salad dressing works just fine! But absolutely you can make it all from scratch, and customize it the way you like- more lemons, no lemons, swap out veggies… it’s pretty versatile! The recipe can be found here.

These maple brown sugar cookies are perfect for a bit of weekend baking, and I have such a soft spot for maple cookies! The addition of pecan is a choice but I think they are really good with them (you could substitute other nuts, though!) Find the recipe here.

I absolutely love this idea, even though I’m not sure I’d take apart my grandmother’s granny square cardigan! But maybe. THis is a great post about how  Ashlee made a crop top from part of the cardigan, but I think really shows the possibilities of what you could do to make something different out a granny square garment that you might find in a thrift shop, or even of something you’ve made that doesn’t suit you style anymore. An interesting experiment, and inspiring. Find the whole post here.

If you love those long lumbar pillows, this is a really good idea to make one from a table runner, which are often on sale for a great price and come in all sorts of colours and textures. Plus it makes the bed look so … finished, doesn’t it? I like this idea, I really want to try it!

I love this fun and bright ceiling light idea! It looks beautiful, and you could fully customize to your decor- a muted palette for a more minimalist approach, or specific colours that tie into your room’s colour scheme. If it has a colour scheme. My rooms don’t have much of a colour scheme, but I’m trying! Find the whole DIY here.

I hope you enjoy the last weekend of February- it’s a strange time, and I find myself overly consumed with the news, which all seems terrible, everywhere. So it’s especially important that we take some time away from the news to do things that help us feel calm, and healthy, and appreciative of what we have in our lives. And if you are reading the news, make sure it’s from established news sources, not social media!

Hot water bottles are the best. Growing up in a draughty house with no central heating in the Yorkshire Dales, we all went to bed with our hot water bottles. I still use one from time to time if I am feeling chilly. So comforting.

OMG, the sheep on the trampoline. It’s putting a smile on my face for the rest of the day!
