Link Love: My Favourite Things This Week

My Favourite Articles and Links This Week

In a recent interview on Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, his wife Kristen Bell shared a tip for combatting her depression: Before she allows herself to succumb to negativity, or get into a really bad mental space, she goes through a “to-do” list of action items she can do to make herself feel better. And we should all do that!

The best love stories? Best friend love stories.

And while on the subject of friendship – Books that celebrate female friendships. There’s even a series about knit night friends!

A commuter’s ‘delay scarf’ was bought by a German train company. Each stripe represents that day’s commute!

My Favourite Pins This Week

Pulling together a delicious pasta meal out of the contents of my pantry and fridge? Heck yes. I didn’t have the fresh parsley (but really, I bet it would be awesome) and instead added some chopped spinach for a bit of colour (truth is I add chopped spinach to everything because I’m always trying to work my way through the entire container and fail every single time). Pinterest link is here, and the full recipe is here.

I always feel like I could just say – brownies and put up the links, because I’m quite sure that if you are into brownies the way I’m into brownies, I don’t really need to say anything else. But let’s pretend I need to sell it- the peanut butter chips and amazing and the hint of espresso adds depth and richness to the chocolate to make these even more utterly satisfying. Also- brownies. Pinterest link is here, and the recipe can be found here.

if you ever wanted to play around wit hmaking pom poms with deliberate colour pooling but felt that some were too advanced, this rainbow pom pom tutorial is a great place to start. It’s pretty much foolproof and will give you a pretty pom no matter what- plus you’ll learn a lot about khow yarn placement can affect pooling and design. Pinterest link is here, and the full tutorial is here.

This free hand embroidery design is so lovely, and a great project for branching out your stitch skills, even if you are a beginner. Plus, who doesn’t need a reminder that they are enough? Pinterest link is here, and the full DIY is here.

If you bought a pretty planner for the new year and aren’t using it as much as you thought you would, here is a huge list of different things you could track and put into your planner to help keep you organized, motivated, and on track. Some of them are pretty obvious (go ahead and skip the first three), but the ones for monthly to dos and goal setting are great. Pinterest link is here, and the full list is here.

It’s a long weekend here in Canada, so happy long weekend for those who have one!

Omg I need to start a Go Transit Delay Scarf. This winter the posted schedules are pure fantasy rather than guideline! Off to read the planner suggestions now, have a great long weekend!

Oh yes, this delay scarf is so funny! And makes me so happy I don’t have to commute every day.
Tip for your spinach: put some in your smoothies and juices, healthy and easy.
Enjoy your long week-end and stay warm.

Yes, spinach in everything! I actually will happily blend just orange juice and spinach together, and it tastes amazing.

I really enjoyed the stories about female friendships. As they say, friends are family you choose! On that note, Happy Family Day, my friend. xo
