What Makes This Awesome: First off, Tanya has knit several variations of Laika, so I was spoiled for choice among her amazing modified versions. I chose this one because I loved the ‘simple’ conversion of taking a cardigan pattern an changing it to be a pullover. Tanya kept the main body stitch count the same in the front as in the back after working the neckline, and made additional small changes for increases and decreases while working top down to ensure pattern consistency (all details on her project page). If you were thinking of modifying a cardigan pattern to be a pullover, Tanya’s project page can help provide some ideas of what to consider when making adjustments- like side faux seams for ensuring stitch consistency and underarm stitch count. Â I love Tanya’s resulting pullover hoodie- it looks comfortable, easy to wear, and so very pretty!

The pop of color is terrific. I like the idea of a pullover instead of a cardigan. Some of the cardigan designs are more like shells. I don’t really like the ones that when you button them, they look like an awkward fit.
