Modification Monday: MacBook Sweater

Modification Monday: MacBook Sweater | knittedbliss.com

Original Patterns: Sundottir and Knit MacBook Air Cover Pattern

Knitter Extraordinaire: Corinne (Ravelry ID, blog)

Mods: Using the existing pattern for sizing for the laptop cover, and incorporating fair isle charts from Sundottir, Corinne customized a fair isle swetaer for her laptop.  Project page can be found here.

What Makes This Awesome: I love the idea of knitted sweaters for tech! Corinne did a great job of this fabulous fair isle ‘sweater’ for her MacBook, which also gave her an opportunity to use up some leftover skeins that she wanted to destash. Using the fair isle design on the yoke of the Sundottir sweater, Corinne repeated it for the full length of the laptop sweater. Adding in her bright, pretty colour choices, and you get this lovely result! I bet you have a laptop or a smart phone that could use some pretty fair isle- just be sure to check in while you are still knitting to make sure it fits, like Corinne did- I love the photo below.

I am always on the lookout for cool destash ideas, this one is great. Practical and fun as well.

    Lovely!
When I got my first ipad, I immediately sat down to make a cover for it. As it happened, I had just learned Judy’s Magic Cast On and used it for my cover, which made it into a “bag”, so that would be my addition to this pattern! (Mine had cables…)

Wow! I might be biased , though as I ❤️ Colour work!

Lovely cover. I’ve just knitted H a new phone cover. The old one, loosely based on a striped cat, was getting too worn – even for him. The new one is in brighter colours, so he stands a chance of finding it when he leaves it lying around, and a fair isle ‘peri’ pattern for added durability. w00t for leftover sock yarn!

such a great idea after the holidays! Many new gadgets were received in my house, so I think I’ve got a few de-stashing projects to consider. I am just healing from a broken finger that put knitting on hold for over 2 months (the worst part of the fracture!), and it is currently rather painful to knit for longer than 30-45 minutes at a time. A few tablet and phone covers might be perfect for this point in my recovery!
